Avatar

avatar
The character a player controls in a game, or the personification of the player in a game’s world. Although any player-controlled character in a game may be referred to as an avatar, the term is usually reserved for characters whose attributes can be customized by the player rather than characters designed by the game’s developer.
Example: Players in the virtual world of Second Life have created avatars that range from personal reproductions of themselves to imaginative fantasy creatures.
Wrong: At this point the player should only have three avatars left in the game.
